Children’s literature gets new translation
A number of new children’s books are in bookshops this summer, but most of them are translations of foreign works and only a few are written by Vietnamese authors.
The Tre Publisher is publishing new translations of international bestsellers, including Mr Midnight by Singaporean author Jim Aitchison under the pseudonym of James Lee, Pendragon by American writer D J Machale and The Saga of Darren Shan by Irish author Darren O-Shaughnessy.
The Kim Dong Publishing House will also release British author Michelle Paver’s Chronicles of Ancient Darkness.
The Magic Tree House by American writer Mary Pope Osborne and the Pipilu Series by Chinese author Zheng Yuanjie will be translated into Vietnamese and published by the Kim Dong Publishing House.
Tu Sach IQ (IQ books), which is also published by the Kim Dong, has more than 30 topics related to IQ games and tests.
The science book, Horrible Science, by British authors Nick Arnold and Tony de Saulles, is being released by the Tre Publisher.
The only books by Vietnamese authors to be released this summer include two reissues, Vua Nham Mat Vua Mo Cua So (Closing Your Eyes, Opening the Window) by Nguyen Ngoc Thuan and Chuyen Xu Lang Biang (Tales of Lang Biang) by Nguyen Nhat Anh.
